The SSRR Board Of Directors would
like to give a FOUR PAWS Up salute to those working so
hard both behind and on the scenes of the hurricane
dogs. Lisa Sims - Our tireless Intake Coordinator for driving out of state to evaluate dogs, trying to match potential fosters and foster dogs, and taking dogs in herself. Pylar Pinkson - for taking a hurricane Rottie in. Linda Money - SSRR member working triple time at her Memphis shelter that has taken in hundreds of hurricane dogs including 4 Rotties which are at her home. Katrin Sexton - Our Transport and Associate Foster Coordinator Sherry Sheppard - Associate Foster Coordinator Bridgett Miller - working at the staging shelter in Louisiana at Lamar Dixon along with...... Dee Pennington-also giving so freely of herself in Louisiana. Elizabeth Reynolds - networking, gathering and sorting info from the multiple rescue lists Kristine Freeland - our webmistress for getting the hurricane page up so quickly. Multiple offers of cash donations, care for sick animals, and especially those who have offered to foster a dog.... Our "regular" fosters who have been in harm's way during this storm but have taken care of not only their "personal" dogs, but the SSRR dogs entrusted to them. Thanks to all who have donated so selflessly in any way. The Hurricane Team and BOD are working out logistics, supplies needed and details of possibly going into MS as early as next week to help. Stay tuned for information this weekend. A second team will possibly be needed to help with the aftermath of Rita, where ever she strikes, after the first wave has gone in. If anyone is considering devoting their time, it is highly recommended to receive a HEPATITIS A vaccine, ensure your tetanus is up to date, and if you have any type of immune deficiencies, discuss with your physician an IMMUNOGLOBULIN injection.
